What are the tasks?
Wanstead Park is London’s greatest surviving designed historic waterscape and the lakes form the most significant element of the historic landscape. These hands-on conservation workdays are part of the City of London Corporation's Wanstead Park Project, aim to restore its historic landscape and waterscape. Currently, tasks mainly involve clearing vegetation and small tress from along the water edges to help protect the water banks.
What to bring on the day?
- Weather-proof clothing that you don't mind getting dirty
- Sturdy & weather-proof boots
- Snacks, water, and lunch
About Epping Forest Heritage Trust (EFHT)?
We are a charity and a membership organisation with a big mission to inspire people about Epping Forest, and to conserve and protect its irreplaceable biodiversity, culture and heritage now and for generations to come. We run regular hands-on conservation sessions in Epping Forest every week, usually on Thursdays (more info here). We understand this time may not be particularly accessible to a lot of other volunteers who would like to take part.
