Please join us at 5PM on Saturday 24 May for the opening of 'Voices of Dissent', An exhibition of protest prints from the Te Kowhai Print Trust archive.Print has always been a medium of the people—a force of resistance, agency, and defiance, capable of disseminating radical thought beyond borders and across time. From hand-carved lino to screen-printed posters, Voices of Dissent explores the print as political agency.
In the context of contemporary struggles, print remains an uncompromising medium of dissent. These works are bound by their shared commitment to resistance. The friction of ink against fibre transforms an idea into an artifact, each impression a declaration, each reproduction a defiance against erasure. The press is not just a tool - it is a witness, a weapon, a site of radical possibility.
This exhibition invites you to engage with the weight of protest in its most material form. These works assert their presence through texture, pressure, and repetition. Protest, made material. Voices, made visible. The ink will not be erased.
The opening of this exhibition coincides with artist talks and a collaborative workshop with Ryan O'Malley. To register or for more information visit www.tkpt.org
