Join us for a dynamic and hands-on experience with renowned artist and educator Ryan O’Malley!Ryan O’Malley is an artist, educator, event organizer and member of the Outlaw Printmakers based in Corpus Christi, Texas. He works in a variety of media with focus on the expansive realm of printmaking.
Ryan’s work has been shown internationally in Canada, Estonia, Russia, Japan, France China, Mexico, Italy, Latvia and Iran. His expertise is included in Printmaking: A Complete Guide to Materials and Process, Second Edition, by Fick and Grabowski and his work is in numerous collections including the Mint Museum of Art and the U.S. Library of Congress.
Ryan will begin the event by showcasing a selection of prints from his personal collection and by sharing his journey as an artist, educator, and traveller, with a special focus on his unique approach to printmaking.
Collaborative Workshop: Psychedelic Print Shark
Following the talk, you’ll have the chance to collaborate on creating a psychedelic print shark! Inspired by Ryan’s own reduction relief print, this workshop will allow participants to design patterns or cut and arrange psychedelic ephemera to form the shark’s shape. With the finished piece nearly 4 meters long, your contribution will become part of a large-scale installation.
