AN EMBODIED PAINTING JOURNEY GENERATED BY PRIMAL VOICE ACTIVATION
This transversal VOICE & PAINTING workshop, is designed to touch the primal self in order to feed the creative act of painting.
By tapping into the sweet madness of our dreams, of our inner child, into the primal and the uncensored part of our being, the goal is to free our artistic expression from expectations and let it get closer to the WHY that will activate the HOW.
What if we would paint as if we’d scream, as if we’d moan, as if we’d whisper or serenade ?What if we’d paint with authority, tenderness, without compromises, with bold choices and voices ?
More than a screen for projections, let your painting surface become skin.We will provide the materials and the energy, you come as you are.
Monika (myvoiceislava.com), vocal coach and musician, has, prior to her musical journey, graduated from the national Fine Arts school of Lyon (France). Her subject of research was ‘communication without words’ and she was switching between the mediums of canvas, sound, performance and video to create that language she was looking for.
Nowadays, her main generator is her voice and her method is a fire starter for all voices looking to be unleashed.
The goal is to discover the space between instinctual and intentional creative actions. Monika will guide the participants through a drive-generating practice using a blend of vocal activation, movement and theater exercises to explore different physical and emotional states that will fire up your imagination and creative body. She will question you, she will tickle your habits, all in the direction of you fully embodying your creative decisions.
Eva Nüsslein studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg, where she also worked as a tutor. She is also the singer of the post-punk band Ambiviolenz. That is how she met Monika, her vocal coach. Eva paints about adolescence and fairy tales, overheard stories and childhood memories, pop culture and romance, and the delightful, sometimes frightening experience of coming of age. In her practice, she seeks to connect with both herself and the audience.
While painting, a personal space for introspection and self-connection is created. Eva welcomes you into her studio to navigate this space together by engaging with the physical aspects of applying paint. She will involve the participants into a dialogue and actively listen to uncover and release the participants' narratives, translating them into shapes and strokes.
