Thorney Island Society members who have taken part in the “Threads of Elegance” Conservation Workshop at Westminster City Archives are invited to a special visit to the'Dress Codes', exhibition at Kensington Palace.
This is part of the ‘Threads of Elegance: Conserving the Legacy of Beale and Inman Tailors’ Project which has been funded by St James’s Ward through Westminster City Council’s Ward Budget Programme, for the benefit of local residents.
We have a limited number of tickets. If any places remain, TTIS members who did not attend the workshop will have the opportunity to join this tour. If you did not attend a Conservation Workshop but are interested in joining, please register your interest by signing up for the TTIS Member Waitlist Ticket. Dress Codes explores the traditions, rules, and powerful messages behind royal clothing. The exhibition traces 500 years of ceremonial style and personal expression, revealing how clothing has shaped royal identity, status, and rebellion.
Among the highlights are garments worn by Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Diana, Princess Margaret, Queen Victoria, and Dame Vivienne Westwood. You'll also see rarely-viewed items from the Royal Ceremonial Dress Collection, including a stunning 1920s Reville court dress worn to Buckingham Palace and an exceptionally rare early 20th-century Japanese court suit.
This is a unique opportunity to explore fashion history in the historic setting of Kensington Palace.
