Hackney School of Food visit
Tuesday 26th May 2026, 3:30 pm
Members booking from 10th May; guests booking from 17th May
Join Hackney Society for a guided tour of the Hackney School of Food with architect Tom Surman of Surman Weston. Set within the grounds of Mandeville Primary School, the project transforms a disused caretaker’s house and garden into a vibrant space for food education, growing, and community engagement.
The tour will explore the project’s inception and delivery, key architectural and landscape design moves, and the collaborative process behind the scheme. It will also reflect on the school’s ongoing social and educational impact, and how thoughtful design can support healthier, more connected communities.
The venue is fully accessible.
Please note this event takes place during the day, on a weekday.
The visit will last about 1.5 hours
Meet at Hackney School of Food, Oswald St, Lower Clapton, London, E5 0BT at 3:30pm.
