About this Event
Introducing our BXposed Artist workshop series which provides a platform for exhibiting artists to showcase their photography expertise through a free workshop for the community.
Photographer Omar Lashin will guide folks on his unique style of executing Street Photography. Participants will learn how to observe their surroundings, anticipate moments and compose compelling visual stories in public spaces. He will discuss various ways to approach folks outside for consent and general strategies for photographing confidently yet unobtrusively.
Photographer Lens2Baduizm invites folks to learn about her personal approach towards creating Self-Portraiture. Participants will experiment with different approaches to self-portraiture while learning practical techniques for working alone with a camera including the use of body language, props and the importance of scouting the right location to convey your own personal narrative.
Following the discussion portion of the workshop, participants will be given the choice to either stay indoors with Lens2Baduizm to recreate their own self-portraits or venture outside with Omar for a photowalk around the neighboring area.
We strongly encourage participants to bring their own camera whether it's film or digital to better immerse yourself in these workshop.
Lens2Baduizm is a Bronx-born photographer whose work is deeply rooted in the rhythm, grit and intimacy of the borough she calls him. For the past four years, she has used photography as a way to document lived experience – capturing quiet moments, raw emotions and the beauty found in everyday surroundings. Influenced by her environments and personal history, her images often explore identity, community and place: blending honesty with a strong visual sensitivity. Her work reflects a growing practice shaped by observation, experimentation and a desire to tell stories that feel both personal and universal.
Omar Lashin is a documentary photographer from the South Bronx whose work centers on amplifying the voices of different communities. Working in a visual language that merges gritty black-and-white street photography with stylized, narrative-driven environmental portraiture, Lashin creates intimate and resonant digital images that explore identity, resilience and the complexity of everyday life across New York City and beyond.
