Join us for Visionary Fiction Book Club at Moon Palace Books, hosted by bookseller Kristin! Visionary Fiction will meet Sunday, June 21st at 2:00pm, and we'll be reading Bloodchild by Octavia Butler. Please come prepared to talk about the entire book. It's OK if you haven't finished, but there will be spoilers.This meeting is FREE, but we do request that you RSVP below!

Visionary Fiction Book Club will read novels by writers whose works continue to impress and challenge us a half century/decades after they were written. How can these past classics help us understand and navigate our complicated present?
Ursula K Le Guin was one of the pioneering women of science fiction. Toni Morrison's work as an editor at Random House and as an author helped usher in a new age of Black literature. She edited books by "The Other Toni," Toni Cade Bambara, who infused stories and novels with the activism she practiced outside of her books. Whether in realistic or speculative fiction, these writers broke boundaries and opened up broad new horizons of possibility for often marginalized communities, writers, and readers.
THIS MONTH'S BOOK: BLOODCHILD BY OCTAVIA BUTLER Like all of Octavia Butler’s best writing, these works of the imagination are parables of the contemporary world. She proves constant in her vigil, an unblinking pessimist hoping to be proven wrong, and one of contemporary literature’s strongest voices.
