About the Soloist
Bastien Baumet is widely regarded as one of Europe's foremost euphonium soloists. A graduate of the prestigious National Superior Conservatory of Music (CNSM) in Paris — where he was awarded first prize with unanimity — Baumet launched his international career early, winning the European Competition for Young Soloists of Luxembourg in 2006 and taking first prize at the renowned Jeju International Competition in South Korea in 2008.
A founding member and long-serving principal euphonium of Paris Brass Band, he was central to the ensemble's remarkable run of five French National Championship titles. Since 2008 he has held the position of solo euphonium with the National French Police Orchestra, and has appeared as guest performer with some of France's most distinguished ensembles, including the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio-France and the Orchestre de l'Opéra National de Paris.
An acclaimed recording artist with five albums to his name, Baumet is also a Professor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse in Lyon. He performs regularly as a soloist across France and internationally, bringing his signature warmth and virtuosity to concert halls and masterclass stages alike.
