About this Event
Adult Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges in adults 18 and over. It gives you the tools you need to start the conversation and provide initial support to someone experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge or crisis.
This is a virtual course. You will complete approximately 2 hours of self-paced work online (does not have to be completed all at once) followed by 5 hours of live instructor led class presented on Zoom.
You will learn:
- Common mental health concerns in adults.
- How to reduce stigma.
- How to recognize signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges.
- A 5-step action for helping an adult who may be facing a mental health or substance use challenge or crisis.
- The importance of self-care for the Mental Health First Aider
* Please do not register for this class if you have taken Adult Mental Health First Aid in the last 12 months.
