SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 22
This weekend, join David and Virginia for their special “Sy! Sy! Sy!” workshops! Focusing on both the biomechanics necessary for the foundation of tango as well as the precision of movement needed to become an advanced dancer (or an even better advanced dancer for those of you already there), the “Sy! Sy! Sy!” (symmetry, syntony (responsiveness), and synchronization) workshops will be held over a two-day period. Join for one or for all! See you there!
Workshops will be held at ESL (1230 9th St NW, Washington, DC 20001) with special thanks to @Fabrica for the use of their home base.
Price for one workshop: $30 if registered in advance; $35 at the door
Price for two workshops: $55 if registered in advance; $65 at the door
Price for all three workshops: $80 if registered in advance
Practica: Free if you have taken any of the workshops
To pre-register for classes, please Venmo me, Natalie Donahue, (@Natalie-Donahue-4; last 4 digits of phone number are 1835) payment for the lesson with clear information on how many workshops and which ones you are registering for.
Workshop 1: Syntony (Responsiveness) (from 12-1:30pm). Everyone has had that one partner or dance or tanda where you felt something special. Focused on the embrace (how to use the points of contact between you and your partner), this workshop will show you how to be in tune with your partner and create those seemingly elusive “wow” moments more often. The workshop will be focused on walking, rebounds, change of directions, navigation, and usage of the free leg (how it can be really free) for the followers.
Workshop 2: Symmetry (from 1:30-3pm). This workshop focused on sacadas; specifically knowing where and how to step into each others’ spaces to get: 1) energy in the movements, 2) freedom for the followers, and 3) clarity and precision for the leader.

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 23
Workshop 3: Synchronization (from 12-1:30pm). Connection is everything and so is the timing. This workshop will focus on how the partners can move together – from the simple (stepping and collecting) to the more difficult (giros, sacadas, boleos)
Mini Practica (from 1:30 – 2pm). Practice what you learned over the course of the weekend and get feedback from David and Virginia about various aspects of your dance.
See prices and pre-registration information above.

David Alejandro Palo is known for his talent and versatility. He believes passionately in a teaching concept which encourages body awareness, partner connection, and an understanding of the music, rather than a series of learned steps and movements. While teaching and performing worldwide he has participated in numerous stages and festivals, and also choreographed and produced the show La Voz de Tus Zapatos. He is a founding creator of the Tango Festival Estilo Parque Patricios – the concept of a teaching and learning method with continuity, coherence and correlation.</rest>
