THE U.S. SURGEON GENERAL DECLARES “FIREARM VIOLENCE A PUBLIC HEALTH CRISIS!”
Our ”Fierce Urgency of Now Peace Collaborative” issues a clarion call to action to address violence prevention in Metro Atlanta in support of the declaration by the U.S. Surgeon General! Our collaborative mission is to "Create a Culture of Peace in Metro Atlanta" through development of a multi-county 10-Point Peace Plan.
Violence Prevention SOS: Strategies, Solutions is an information sharing and awareness symposium! It brings together highly esteemed violence prevention practitioners, educators, researchers, community and faith leaders, youth, and civic and corporate leaders to share their perspectives and recommendations to address violence in Metro Atlanta.
Attendees will also participate in discussions and activities designed to create a safe and peaceful Metro Atlanta. Insights and strategies will be incorporated into our 10-Point Peace Plan.

THE FACTS
- Guns are the leading cause of death for U.S. Children (CDC)
- Homicide is the 3rd leading cause of death for ages 15-29 (WHO, 2023)
- Youth and Young Adults (10-34), particularly those in communities of color, are disproportionately impacted by violence (CDC)
- Community Perceptions: Crime is still the #1 concern of Atlanta residents (ARC, 2024)
