Brighter Sound teams up with Vic Meets for a spoken word workshop with Meduulla.
About this Event

Explore how to bring spoken word and poetry into your songwriting with guest artist Meduulla.

Meduulla, hailing from North Manchester, is a 24 year old Zimbabwean-born Rapper, poet and DJ. Meduulla marries her modern flows and witty lyrics with jazz inspired hip hop instrumentals to create music that reflects the present day whilst carrying a nostalgic air.

Hosted by BBC Radio 1 presenter and R&B/Soul artist Victoria Jane, this workshop will last two hours with an hour at the end to chat, jam or freestyle. There’ll be plenty of chances to ask any burning questions throughout.

For you if you’re:

  • In the early stages of your journey into music and are looking for support and guidance
  • Looking to develop your skills and confidence, and have a go at something new
  • Keen to meet new people and make connections in the Manchester music scene
Can I come?

This event is designed as an intentional space for women and people of marginalised genders as part of our All Things Equal initiative. This includes:

  • Women, including Trans Women
  • Non-Binary / Agender people
  • Gender Fluid / Genderqueer people
  • Trans Men / Trans Masculine people
  • Intersex people

We know that more needs to be done to address intersectional barriers in the music industry, so we’re particularly keen to support additional marginalised communities. This includes Black, South Asian and ethnically diverse people, and people with lived experience of disability.

There are limited places on this workshop, so please consider whether this is right for you before signing up.

, hailing from North Manchester, is a 24 year old Zimbabwean-born Rapper, poet and DJ. Meduulla marries her modern flows and witty lyrics with jazz inspired hip hop instrumentals to create music that reflects the present day whilst carrying a nostalgic air. The award winning wordsmith released her debut EP ‘Oblongata’ in November 2023. After the leading track on the project ‘Limbo’ went viral on TikTok, it garnered 200k streams on Spotify alone and had ‘over 100k people hanging on every word’ according to Fashionably Early Magazine. Having opened up for hip hop legends such as AZ and Souls of Mischief during their world tours, she is no novice when it comes to rocking a crowd. Her recent work with e.l.f. Cosmetics as the face of their recent campaign reflects her passion for encouraging self expression, a quality that is also expressed by her musical influences such as Oliver Mtukudzi, The Fugees and Noname.
