About the Opportunity

Venice Beach Yoga & Beach Cleanup Series (2026)

  • Location: Venice Beach Fishing Pier
  • Schedule: Every 2nd Saturday | 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
  • Season: February – December

Join It’s Bigger Than Us (IBTU) as we launch our third year of the Venice Beach Cleanup Series, a monthly volunteer activation focused on environmental stewardship, community wellness, and coastal preservation.

In 2026, we are proud to partner with the Venice Beach Pier Association and dozens of other partners as part of their ongoing Second Saturday community activation series. This series highlights local businesses, features themed programming, offers discounted food, and provides free public activities along the pier each month. Our Coastal Care cleanups will serve as a featured community engagement anchor within this larger activation.

Volunteers will help keep our coastline clean, engage beachgoers in environmental awareness, and support a positive, welcoming community experience on the boardwalk.

What Volunteers Will Do

  • Participate in organized beach cleanups
  • Collect and sort debris safely
  • Support community engagement and environmental education
  • Help create a welcoming and inclusive experience for community members and visitors
  • Represent IBTU’s mission of service, unity, and community impact

Why It Matters

From 2024 til present, IBTU volunteers helped remove thousands of debris items from Venice Beach while activating hundreds of community members. In 2026, we are scaling our impact through deeper partnerships and consistent monthly engagement to protect our coastline, strengthen neighborhood pride, and model environmental responsibility.

This opportunity is ideal for:

  • Corporate volunteer groups

Commitment

Volunteers may participate in one or multiple dates throughout the year. Consistent participation is encouraged to help build leadership, continuity, and deeper community ownership within the Coastal Care program.Volunteers will check in on-site at the Venice Beach Fishing Pier and receive a brief orientation and safety instructions before beginning the cleanup. All necessary cleanup supplies will be provided, including gloves, bags, and grabbers.

Volunteers will work in small groups to collect and safely dispose of debris along the beach and surrounding public areas. Water breaks will be encouraged, and shaded areas will be available when possible.

This is an outdoor volunteer opportunity and will take place rain or shine unless otherwise communicated. Volunteers should dress comfortably for beach conditions and wear closed-toe shoes. Sun protection and reusable water bottles are strongly recommended.

Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian unless otherwise approved in advance.

Participants may be asked to assist with light setup and breakdown of supplies, as well as basic data tracking for impact reporting (such as bag counts or debris totals).

Community engagement, positive attitude, and teamwork are essential, as volunteers will represent IBTU and help create a welcoming experience for the public.
