About this Event

Our sexy, 70s inspired subterranean cocktail lounge is a beautiful haven for live music, especially live jazz. Our new Velvet Underground series highlights queer jazz musicians for a night of easy listening, the perfect date destination and a lovely background to our exceptional lounge and cocktail program.

On March 18th we welcome in Adie Mendez to kick off the series, playing from 8-11pm. Audience members can expect a soulful, melodic set that blends classic jazz sensibilities with contemporary vocal arrangements.

Doors at 6pm. A $5 cover starts at 7:30pm.

RSVPs are free and serve as calendar reminders for guests. RSVPs do not guarentee entry and are not in lieu of the cover charge at the door if entering after 7:30pm.

ABOUT THE MUSICIANS

Adie Mendez is a contemporary vocalist based in Chicago, IL. With a background in Jazz from the Chicago College of Performing Arts, her versatile knowledge and performance style ensure a consistently exciting show.

Octavio Serrano started performing in 2012. As an autodidact, he taught himself to play guitar when he was 12. He played in rock bands until college, where he began his proper studies at Morton College and Roosevelt University. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music composition with Dr. Kyong Mee Choi, Dr. Stuart Folse, and Jim Gailloreto, while studying jazz under Scott Mason, Alejandro Cortes, and Roger Harris. Quinteto Panamericano is one of the first professional groups Octavio joined after graduating, and he plays and records with local Chicago artists regularly. He leads a Neo-Soul group named Hi Score with singer Adrian Mendez. Additionally, he spends his time teaching private music lessons, composing, and raising his son.
