About this Event
We are working alongside Acterra to build a food forest within Veggielution's orchard. Food forests are gardening systems designed to function as sustainable forest ecosystems by integrating various edible plants, shrubs, and trees. Help us get one step closer to that goal with a day of mulching and other tasks, as needed. You'll get the chance to get your hands dirty while learning about basic water conservation and fruit tree health.
***Note: We are collecting cardboard to use as mulch. If you have discarded cardboard, we will happily make use of it! Before bringing it to the farm, please remove all tape and staples from the cardboard.
All volunteers must sign-in upon arriving to the farm, which includes a liability waiver. You must be age 13 or older to volunteer on the farm. Middle and High School students, ages 13 to 17, MUST be accompanied by a parent/guardian/chaperone.
*Note on Weather: In the event we need to cancel a volunteer event due to extreme weather, we will notify you via email, otherwise please assume we will hold volunteer events rain or shine, and dress accordingly.
*Note on Volunteer Hours: We are happy to sign off on hours if you need them, however, we ask that you please provide your own form or letter for us to sign. Veggielution staff will only sign-off on hours if a form is provided at time of volunteering.
*Note on Dress Code: No jewelry, body piercings, rhinestones, dangling strings, ear buds or other items that can fall off into the growing area, packing area, or harvested product are allowed. Volunteers will be asked to remove items and store in a safe place or cover with tape.
