The Vizsla Club of America holds their National Specialty events the 17th week of the AKC Corresponding Date Calendar. The VCA National Specialty is held in a different region of the country every year and includes conformation, Junior Showmanship, obedience, rally, agility, educational events and Judge Education. Additionally there is the All-Star Review that is limited to Vizslas with Conformation Championship and either a Field Championship or Master Hunter title. Entry in any VCA National event (show, field, performance or companion event) requires a DNA number. This applies to rescues and to spayed/neutered dogs, but excludes PAL dogs. Advertising in the national specialty catalog requires both a DNA number and an OFA number if a specific dog's name is used.
A "Best in Show" win at a national specialty show holds tremendous prestige within the dog show community. This award indicates that the winning dog or bitch triumphed at a contest which attracted entries from the most serious fanciers of that breed. Our Vizsla National Specialty usually draws a large entry of dogs. The total entries vary depending on the location of the event, but the averages entry is over 200 Vizslas of all ages.
National Specialties are a great place to come and learn about the breed, and talk to participants and breeders.
