With deep sadness and love, we announce the passing of Valija Wright, age 81 of Nolanville, Texas, who left this world peacefully on Thursday, July 17, 2025.
Valija—known to many as Val—was an extraordinary woman whose kindness, generosity, and vibrant spirit made a lasting impact on everyone she met. Born in Latvia, Val immigrated to the United States as a young girl, carrying with her a resilient spirit and a heart full of love.
Val Wright was most proud of her military service. She joined the United States Army, serving with distinction as a military police officer. Her commitment to protecting and helping others continued throughout her life, especially in her 30-year career with the VA, where she served in a similar capacity with unwavering dedication.
She will be remembered as a wonderful lady, a devoted veteran, a generous neighbor, and a dear friend. Her absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Val was more than a friend—she was like family to many. With her kind heart and sassy sense of humor, she was always ready to show up, lend a hand, share her wisdom, or simply bring a smile. From her homemade fudge and pickles to her thoughtful birthday remembrances, gardening advice, and carpentry skills, Val gave freely of her time and love. She was a constant presence for her friends through every big moment.
Val fought a long and silent battle with cancer, facing it with quiet strength. She has now joined her beloved sister, Joanie Tucker, in Heaven, where we know they are reunited in peace and joy.
She will be remembered as a wonderful lady, a devoted veteran, a generous neighbor, and a dear friend. Her absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her.
