In today's fast-paced and collaborative work environments, the ability to effectively work within and lead teams is essential for achieving organizational success. This presentation explores the key principles and strategies for fostering successful team dynamics, highlighting communication, trust, and adaptability as core components of high-performing teams. Drawing from research and practical experience, the session will delve into practical techniques for overcoming common challenges such as conflict resolution, role ambiguity, and differing work styles. Attendees will gain insights into cultivating a culture of inclusivity, leveraging diverse skills, and enhancing collaboration to drive innovation and productivity. Whether leading a team or contributing as a team member, this presentation provides valuable tools for optimizing teamwork in any professional setting.
At the end of this training, participants will:
- Understanding of tools and techniques to improve both verbal and non-verbal communication within teams, ensuring clarity, active listening, and constructive feedback.
- Explore strategies to build trust and strengthen relationships among team members, creating a culture of openness, respect, and mutual support.
- Explore practical approaches for identifying and addressing challenges such as role ambiguity, personality differences, and conflict, turning potential obstacles into opportunities for growth..
PRESENTER: David A. Betz
David A. Betz is a twenty-five-year veteran of the Harford County, MD Sheriff’s Office and is the former director for the Harford County Child Advocacy Center. Dave served in many capacities during his career to include the investigation of child abuse cases from 1998 to 2011; Public Information Officer/Spokesperson; member of the Special Response Team, assignments within the Patrol Division and instructor for workplace violence prevention.
He also has served as a member of the National Children’s Alliance Board of Directors, an advisory board member of the Child Protection Center in Cedar Falls, IA, the Maryland Children’s Alliance, and the board of the Iowa Chapter of Child Protection Centers.
Dave is a Doctoral Candidate at Liberty University in Business Administration with a concentration in leadership. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Liberty University and a Master’s Degree in Management from Johns Hopkins University. He also holds certifications as a Certified Protection Professional and a Professional Certified Investigator from the American Society for Industrial Security.

Certificate of Training, Social Work CEUs and Academic Credits:
RVAAM selected curriculum has been approved for specific professions (e.g. social work, law enforcement, corrections, probation/parole) Upon completion of an online evaluation form, participants are welcome to request a Certificate of Training; Social Work Category I Continuing Education Units (CEUs), and/or academic credits. All participants are eligible to receive a Certificate of Training (1 credit per training hour).
In order to receive a Certificate of Training, participants video cameras must remain on during all V-STEP Webinar trainings.
