Title: "My Ex Was a Borderline and My Boss is a Narcissist: Helping Our Clients Take More Responsibility For Their Own Wellbeing"
Continuing Education Info: This event will offer 3.0 hours of CE credit. This presentation schedule has been approved for CEU credit by the Utah Social Work Association Board.
Objectives:
- Identify the benefits and risks of blaming other people and world events
for their own wellbeing. - dentify the challenges and opportunities of taking more responsibility
for their own wellbeing. - Make practical changes in their behavioral and cognitive patterns that
can help them reduce their anxiety and depression, foster their own
physical wellbeing and foster greater peace of mind. - Understand how the tendency to blame others and to blame the world
can get in the way of their own healing.
Dr. Dave Derezotes, LCSW Phd
Dr Dave Derezotes is Professor Emeritus of Social Work and retired Director of the Peace and Conflict Studies Program in the College of Humanities, at the University of Utah. He has received many awards in teaching, service, and scholarship and has published eight textbooks and offered many articles and presentations in such topics as community mental health, dialogue, and global wellbeing. He is a popular facilitator and educator who uses a blend of dialogue and didactic presentation in his programs. Dr Dave currently provides consultation, teaching, and counseling in his private practice, including trainings for local and regional organizations. He facilitates dialogues at the Millcreek Senior Center and Library, teaches in the University Osher program, facilitates LCSW consultation groups, and contributes articles to City Weekly. Dr Dave also loves bicycle commuting, playing music, and desert adventures in Southern Utah.
