Anyone working in secondary education interested in the use of AI, including heads of department, senior leadership teams, science teachers, and those responsible for digital strategy.

We'll look into innovative teaching strategies and reimagined 21st-century assessments. This event is organised in collaboration with Astin Consulting, with Christina Astin as our partnerships consultant and panel facilitator.

About our Keynote Speakers:

Tim Brady

Subject Advisor - supporting all Digital Qualifications at Pearson Edexcel

Tim Brady has a wide range of experience, from industry to computing. He worked as a memory chip designer in the semiconductor industry for twenty years and then turned his hand to a decade of teaching ICT and Computer Science in a large comprehensive school. More recently, Tim has been using his expertise to support teachers delivering Pearson Edexcel Computer Science and IT qualifications.

Dr Cesare Aloisi

Head of Research and Development at AQA

Cesare has been Head of Research and Development since January 2021, after joining the research team in 2017. Prior to this, he worked at the University of Reading on a project focused on analyzing student learning trajectories, critical thinking, engagement, and well-being. He holds a PhD in Education from the University of Durham and an MA in Educational Assessment from University College London. A former language teacher, Cesare has a strong interest in statistical modelling, analysis, and the intersection of leadership and management.

Graeme Lawrie MBE

Graeme is a qualified teacher with 22 years of experience in Technology, Computing, Electronics, and Design. He began his career at Oakham School and later became Head of Faculty for Science at Sevenoaks School, where he led the UK's largest free Science event. Graeme has worked with OCR, AQA, and the IB, and served as a Special Advisor at Buckingham Palace. He received the Lloyds Trust Teacher of the Year in 2005, Pearson Teacher of the Year in 2012, and was named by TES as one of the top 5 UK Science teachers in 2014. Awarded an MBE in 2020 for services to education, Graeme is passionate about social mobility, working with schools and charities to support underprivileged students. Outside of work, he enjoys climbing, motorsports, and spending time with his children.

Hugh Viney

Hugh Viney, aged 36, is the founder and CEO of Minerva’s Virtual Academy (MVA) and Minerva Tutors. MVA is a multi-award-winning online school serving students aged 11-18 and is now the fastest-growing school in the UK. Minerva Tutors is a leading provider of homeschooling and after-school tutoring. Hugh’s innovative and hands-on approach to education has revolutionised schooling for thousands of children, establishing him as one of the most influential education entrepreneurs of his generation.

Jennifer Surujpaul

Jennifer Surujpaul, also known as "The IT Solutionist," is an experienced IT professional with over 25 years of expertise in education and industry. As the former Head of IT & Digital at The BRIT School, she successfully implemented digital strategies that enhanced learning and operational efficiency. Jennifer specialises in strategic IT planning, staff training (focusing on Microsoft, Google, and AI tools), and cloud services integration. Her consultative approach tailors solutions to meet the specific needs of educational institutions, ensuring IT systems align with academic goals. Passionate about empowering schools, Jennifer has guided numerous organisations through digital transformation, conducting PedTech 360 audits and integrating AI-driven technologies. Her work fosters environments where staff and students can thrive, ensuring long-term success through technology.

John Dalton

John Dalton, Co-Principal at David Game College, leads the A-Level and GCSE Leadership Team and has 30 years of teaching experience. A Biochemistry graduate from Queen Mary College, London University, he oversees curriculum development, student performance, and the medical programme. John stays current on advances in cell biology, immunology, and microbiology, with a focus on AI's role in structural biology. He is also passionate about teaching memory and revision skills, advocating for leadership and confidence-building in students.

Rania Gad

Rania is a qualified secondary science teacher at St George’s Catholic School in London, with a BSc in Ph*rm*cy and Biotechnology from the German University in Cairo. She began her career as a pharmacist and taught various Ph*rm*cy courses at her home university, where she also worked on quality assurance of education and accreditation. Transitioning from the university to the school setting, she discovered her true calling in shaping the minds of young generations. With a strong belief in the transformative power of education, Rania, finishing her Teach First programme this year with Sheffield Hallam University, is particularly committed to making science accessible to all her students, fostering their science capital. Rania is also a STEM Ambassador, advocating for greater opportunities and representation in STEM fields. Beyond the classroom, she proudly serves as a patient representative for the NHS, for accessible healthcare for everyone.
