About this Event
This workshop proposes to engage more specifically with the idea of the “urban metabolic milieu.” It aims to explore how contemporary sciences (biology, chemistry, ecology, medicine, neurology, experimental psychology, etc.) can enter into dialogue with the social sciences and urban studies in order to better understand the interactions of living beings—human and non-human—with the built environment.
The workshop seeks to address two main sets of questions: on the one hand, how do urban territories act upon and shape living organisms? On the other hand, how might architects and urban planners develop specific modes of intervention—“metabolic interventions”—that approach cities as territories inhabited by a multiplicity of living beings, traversed by a diversity of metabolic processes?
