About this Event
We live in a time of inequities, war, impoverishment, social injustices, corrupt institutions, imbalance of ruling power, false ideologies rooted in religion, and the list goes on. History reflects all such present day situations, so what is different today?
The self. The “me”. The ego-centric consumption dosed through digital social media. The world now more than ever has the capability of knowing, anything & everything, anywhere & everywhere. One may feel they’ve been part of a radical protest because they’ve reposted the reel recap on their IG story. This isn’t said to shame those who do, but rather to bring awareness that we are consuming ever-changing information may it be cruel then beautiful, daunting then humorous, within seconds, minutes of everyday. Our minds, emotions processing and swaying from one topic and feeling to the next.
It is easy to label undeserved social inequalities as unjust, and hard to not sympathize for those affected. What are we to do about it though? Are the wars, political parties, riots, media slanderings, fighting fire with fire, the solution to bring universal justice? How do we move forward in true righteousness, creating a brighter world?
Fights for equality justified with chaos rather than peace, only bring further destruction, not unity. The real “fight” is with the self, not in separation of the ego and society, but in harmony with all forces. Only then when one is balanced within can there be equality throughout. Perhaps there is only fight or equality…
