About this Event
Birmingham is greener than most people realize.
Join us for a guided urban foraging walk along the Magic City Walk to learn how to identify edible, medicinal, and useful plants growing right in the heart of the city.
This is an education-first walk focused on plant identification, safety, ethics, and stewardship—not harvesting volume. We’ll talk honestly about what urban foraging looks like in the South, where it does and does not make sense, and how land use, history, and access shape what grows around us.
Perfect for beginners, curious locals, gardeners, and anyone interested in reconnecting with place through plants.
The Walk Length
It is 4 Miles in total, 2 Miles to the brewery and 2 back. There will be lots of stops along the way to look and talk about things.
Who's the host?
Spencer has 20+ years foraging experience and 13 years teaching foraging, stewardship and mycology all over the east coast. He’s the owner of Forage North America, an in-person and online educational platform for all things foraging related. He's also the VP of the Alabama Mushroom Society. You can find him on Tik Tok and Facebook @ForageNorthAmerica
