Reimagine your denim in this hands-on atelier-style workshop, where well-loved jeans are transformed into a one-of-a-kind skirt. Whether your pieces no longer fit, feel outdated, or simply no longer reflect your style, this is your opportunity to turn them into something entirely new.

Working in a small, guided setting, you’ll explore creative reconstruction techniques and develop a design that feels uniquely yours—from minimal and refined to bold and expressive.

What you’ll create:

• A custom denim skirt, thoughtfully designed and crafted by you 👗

What to bring:

• One or more pairs of jeans or denim garments (your own or thrifted) 👖

• You’re encouraged to bring multiple pieces—we can combine different washes, textures, and details into a single, distinctive design

What’s included:

• Step-by-step guidance in denim reconstruction

• Creative direction and design support throughout the process

• All additional materials and tools (denim not included)

What you’ll leave with:

• A one-of-a-kind denim skirt — completed or beautifully in progress ✨

• New skills in garment transformation and upcycling

Please note:

• This workshop is not for absolute beginners — basic sewing machine skills are required ⚠️

• If your piece isn’t finished during the session, you’re welcome to continue at home or join an Open Sewing Studio session for additional guidance 🧵

Hi there! I’m Julia Medeiros, a seasoned professional in the world of apparel. 

With over 20 years of experience under my belt (yes, I started early!) I've honed my skills as a tailor, pattern maker, and sewing technologist. Specializing in women’s clothing, and utilizing my One Fitting method, I’ve brought countless unique garments to life, turning my clients’ visions into reality. I have deep experience with teaching sewing classes around the world I am excited to bring my expertise to The Nest.
