This friendly workshop explores the role of plastic in modern society and examines its impact on climate, wildlife and human health.
Participants will gain a clearer understanding of how plastic is produced, used, and managed and why it remains such a complex global issue. The session challenges common assumptions about plastic, recycling and sustainability while highlighting the broader systems that drive production and consumption.
Key themes include:
- The lifecycle of plastic and where environmental impacts occur
- Impacts on ecosystems, wildlife, human health and climate
- Common misconceptions about solutions and sustainability claims
- The difference between surface-level actions and meaningful change
- How individuals and communities can engage constructively to influence decisions
The workshop also supports participants in building confidence to engage with businesses, local representatives and community organisations about reducing plastic use and encouraging practical alternatives.
Designed for community groups, students, professionals, and engaged citizens, this session combines critical discussion with practical tools for informed action.
Refreshments will be provided
