Welcome to the UNMASKED Poetry Open Mic🎤
Our Unmasked Poetry Night will be at The Lady Ottoline on Sunday 18th January at 6pm. (5:30pm sign in)

Whether you’re a seasoned performer, a first-time reader, or just there to listen, you’re very welcome to join us for an informal and relaxed poetry.

We’ve created a space that’s welcoming, neuroinclusive, comfortable, and accessible - especially for neurodivergent attendees. You’re free to enjoy the event in whatever way feels right for you.

Here’s what to expect:

• No flashing or harsh lighting
• Fidget toys available on tables (non-disruptive)
• Stimming is welcome
• A quiet space is available if you need a break
• You’re welcome to leave quietly between performances
• We’ll have a scheduled break partway through the evening
• The event will run to time as much as possible

There’s no pressure to engage or interact - you're welcome just to sit back and take it all in.

♿ Accessibility Note

We want to be as inclusive as possible, but sadly, the event space is upstairs and there is no lift access. This means the venue is not wheelchair accessible.

• You’ll have up to 5 minutes to perform your piece.
• A microphone and adjustable stand will be set up for you.
• Feel free to read from your phone, a notebook, or perform from memory — whatever works for you.
• There’s no set theme - just bring your words, your voice, and whatever feels important to share.

This is an open mic, so pieces may vary — from light-hearted or romantic to personal and intense. Some performances may explore difficult or emotional topics, including:

Grief, trauma, mental health, discrimination, abuse, violence, or identity-based experiences.

We’ll encourage performers to give a heads-up if their piece includes triggering content.If you need to step away at any point, you’re completely free to do so , no need to explain.
