About this Event
Back in the summer, former Time-Team archaeologist Professor Carenza Lewis from the University of Lincoln led an archaeological dig at Beaumanor Park for students from local secondary schools. Beaumanor Park has an interesting and varied past: from medieval manorial splendour through to its importance as a key hub for intelligence gathering in World War II, it was the perfect site for test-pit excavation.
We are delighted that Professor Lewis will return to Beaumanor Hall in December to give a talk about the excavation, its finds, and what they can add to our knowledge of this important site. And if that isn’t already exciting enough, as it's close to the festive season, we hope you’ll also enjoy a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie! Both the archaeological investigations and the talk have been organised by the Charnwood Forest Geopark team and funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to Leicestershire County Council for providing the venue.
