About this Event

Doors 19:30, starts 20:00

HerOrangeCoat and Ballads for this Age

HerOrangeCoat is an indie-folk artist from West Yorkshire. Her music is a beguiling mixture of her life experiences, woven into a rich tapestry of sound. Armed with her ukulele, she crafts songs that turn melancholy into a musical journey that demands to be heard.

This debut EP release simultaneously outlines the difficulties of HerOrangeCoat’s early twenties whilst providing a micro-study of some of the most pressing societal issues of the present day. In this way, it is at once introspectively individualistic and universal.

Supports

Lilian

Lilian is a folk musician who draws inspiration from folklore, fairy tales, and supernatural encounters. Her distinctive sound combines haunting vocals with English concertina and guitar.

Sair

Sair, a singer/songwriter from London currently based in Leeds, strives for imperfection, which in his eyes, is everything perfect about music. He aims to bridge a gap between western and South Asian sonics, lyrically and vocally for himself and others like him.

Makk

In 2021, MAKK, Yorkshire based singer-songwriter David McEvoy, met producer and co-writer Jacob Clarke at Evoke Studio in Leeds. Over the last two years, the duo has cultivated a distinctive Indie Dream Folk sound, characterised by lo-fi and experimental production, ethereal and dreamy atmospheres, and Makk’s moody vocals paired with introspective lyrics. Their ambient and mellow sound, with a cinematic feel, draws influences from artists such as Bon Iver, The Tallest Man on Earth, Billie Martin, Wyldest, Flyte, and This is The Kit.

Their latest EP, Tabula Rasa was released in August, the first single ‘Breathe’ from which has been well-received by both fans and critics alike.
