Underwear Making Workshop. Part 2: Sew Your Custom Design

Bring your custom pattern from Part 1—or your own pattern—and learn how to sew your own perfectly fitted panties or bra. In this 2.5-hour hands-on workshop, you’ll gain professional tips and techniques for working with stretchy fabrics and achieving a polished, comfortable finish.

Part 2 of the Underwear Making Workshop series is all about bringing your pattern to life. Using the custom pattern you created in Part 1—or a pattern you already have—you’ll sew one garment: either panties or a bra.

We’ll focus on:

✔️ Cutting and preparing stretchy fabrics

✔️ Multiple ways to attach elastic and stretch lace

✔️ Finishing edges with fold-over elastic

✔️ Choosing the right presser foot and needle for stretchy fabrics

✔️ Thread correction and professional sewing techniques

✔️ Tips to simplify the process while achieving a polished, fitted finish

Note: We will complete only one garment in this session. If you haven’t made panties yet, it’s recommended to start with them first. If you already have panties, then a bra is a great next step.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll walk home with a custom-made garment that fits perfectly and is ready to wear!

Hi there! I’m Julia Medeiros, a seasoned professional in the world of apparel.

With over 20 years of experience under my belt (yes, I started early!) I've honed my skills as a tailor, pattern maker, and sewing technologist. Specializing in women’s clothing, and utilizing my One Fitting method, I’ve brought countless unique garments to life, turning my clients’ visions into reality. I have deep experience with teaching sewing classes around the world I am excited to bring my expertise to The Nest.
