Under the Influence is a series where local singer-songwriters interpret an artist's catalogue and share their original songs that have had direct influence from that artist. The series was created by composer/producer Mark Governor. This edition of Under the Influence was curated by Tara DeMoulin.
Tara DeMoulin is a San Francisco based singer-songwriter and a member of the North Beach underground scene. She has been in four Under the Influence events at The Lost Church, and regularly performs standards and French classics at Le Petit Paris on Broadway. Other credits include Landmark Theatre Company musicals, films Countercurrents and Precious Wheels, and Season 3 of American Idol.
Jennifer Greer is a multi-award winning singer-songwriter and pianist who plays funky art-pop. A singer since childhood, she only began to write her own songs art 28. Her first album, Jewel Machine (2001) won the WRSI singer-songwriter competition; The Apiary, her subsequent album, won Best Alternative CD of 2005 from The Muse's Muse. Her fifth full-length studio album, Speaking With Ghosts, was released in winter 2023 to great acclaim.
Modus Opera & Eye (Ricardo Zegri) is a writer and multi-instrumentalist who has been working as a musician in the Bay Area for almost 30 years. He founded several underground bands in the late '90s/early aughts, including Satyrica, American Bindi, Plasterkatz, and Crumpled Napkin. He currently plays in three established Bay Area groups: Modus Opera & Eye, 5 Cent Coffee, and High Card Drifters.
