The University of North Dakota Wind Ensemble and Chamber Players present their final concert of the semester. The theme for this concert is “Creature Feature: butterflies, bugs, and bees…Oh My!” The Wind Ensemble, conducted by Dr. James Popejoy, will feature performances of unique works inspired by the world of insects and more. The program will open with Mother Earth fanfare by David Maslanka, followed by Tomas Duffy’s coloristic Butterflies and Bees! Continuing with the theme, the ensemble will perform the beautiful Firefly by Ryan George and Andrew Boysen’s evocative Metamorphosis. Rounding out the program will be Roger Cichy’s Bugs, a six-movement suite for wind ensemble that musically describes such creatures as the dragonfly, praying mantis, black widow spider, tiger swallow, and army ants. They will close the program with The Circus Bee, Henry Fillmore’s exciting and climactic march. The Wind Ensemble Chamber Players will be featured during the concert, performing Serenade, a new work by Katahj Copley.
The event will be livestreamed at und.edu/music/stream for those unable to join us in person.
