UnCAGED: Vol. 4 – Viewer’s Choice

Celebrate all that makes Nicolas Cage an incomparable entertainer with films chosen by you, the viewer, Wednesdays in April, only at the Revue Cinema!

For our epic fourth volume of the now beloved UnCAGED series, we turned the programming duties over to you, the devoted audience of Cage fanatics. We’ve heard your astute recommendations over the years and wanted to recognize your dedication in all ways Cage. We asked you to chime in on your picks for the “Manic Cage”, “Dramatic Cage”, “Encore Cage”, and “Wild Card Cage” categories. We then tabulated the results, secured the rights, acquired not one but two seriously rare 35mm prints, and voila! We present to you four Cage masterpieces without irony and with a respect for theatrical presentation. The winners are a true embarrassment of riches!

Visit the in-cinema UnCAGED marketplace for all your Cage collectible needs, exclusive Cage swag, limited edition posters, and more!

WINNER OF DRAMATIC CAGE!

The film that Cage declared “my favorite film I’ve ever made,” PIG features Cage as Rob Feld, a reclusive truffle hunter taking refuge from his former life as a celebrated Portland chef in the wilderness of Oregon. When his beloved and trusted forager pig is kidnapped, Feld braces for a return to urbanity and the depraved food scene that he scorned to save her.

Playing off Odysseus, Cage’s portrayal of a traumatized prodigal chef was critically praised as some of his best work in years, proving that the Oscar-winner was not unlike a finely aged cheese–simply better with time. PIG also proved Cage’s penchant for taking risks with first-time directors–in this case, the talented Michael Sarnoski–and elevating micro-budgeted independent films. The budget was so low, that they couldn’t afford a trained pig, and Cage’s co-star(s) bit him several times. Despite that, the chemistry between Cage and his pig is finely wrought. Imagine a film that combines JOHN WICK, FIGHT CLUB, and FX’s THE BEAR, that will also leave you in tears. PIG is simply that unique.
