Welcome to the UK Coaching: Safeguarding Children and Young People training!
Join Active HW at the Royal College for the Blind - located at the Point 4 Centre in Herefordshire, UK for a comprehensive session on safeguarding, as licensed to deliver by UK Coaching.
This in-person event will be delivered by Lorea Sarobe to cover essential topics to ensure the safety and well-being of children and young people in coaching environments. Don't miss this opportunity to enhance your knowledge and skills in safeguarding.
This course will raise your awareness of the tell-tale signs of abuse and give you the tools and confidence you need to deal with any issues sensitively, appropriately and effectively should the need ever arise in your coaching career (minimum age, 16 years – accompanied by a chaperone).
Please note, learners who want to attend and are aged between 16-17 years will require a chaperone, who is not attending the course. Chaperones will not receive a certificate of attendance, please see UK Coaching chaperone guidelines here.
Cost:
Free to attend - Course is valued at approx. £35 per person, currently subsidised* by active Herefordshire and Worcestershire to support people working, or wanting to work in the sport and physical activity industry.

*At Active HW we can’t always fully subsidise courses, so if you’re keen and can attend please register whilst places are still available!
Eligibility: This is aimed at people operating out of Herefordshire and Worcestershire who are working in, or wanting to work in the sport or physical activity industry, or are supporting people in a volunteer role.
Applicants operating from, or living within Herefordshire and Worcestershire will be prioritised if places sell out. People from outside the region can apply if they are able to travel to and from the venue and are committed to attend, but may be placed on a waiting list if capacity is reached. You will be contacted to advise if this happens.

Resouce: You will receive an online version of A Guide to Safeguarding Children and Young People in Sport & Physical Activity before the workshop.
Duration: 3 hours | Classroom-based
Commitment to training: As places are limited and funded by Active Herefordshire and Worcestershire, please ensure that you are committed to attend and if you are unable to that you contact Active HW as soon as possible to re-allocate the place.

- Identify and recognise good coaching practice and the implications for your coaching
- refresh your knowledge around recognising safeguarding issues, what to do, and just as importantly, what not to do
- Explore your values and feelings in relation to child abuse, and recognise their potential impact on your response
- Take appropriate action if concerns about a child arise
- Learn from our expert tutors, all of whom have lived Safeguarding experience
