About this Event
A workshop for people who are shaping curriculum, digital learning and student experience in higher education.
Prof. Gosia Kwiatkowska is Director of the Rix Inclusive Research Institute at the University of East London. She consults internationally on utilising technology to champion inclusion, self-advocacy, participation, equal opportunities, and human rights for marginalised groups, especially individuals with intellectual disabilities.
This workshop is aimed at people who are shaping curriculum, digital learning and student experience in higher education: faculty, professional services, disability support, learning technologists and anyone interested in inclusive design for teaching and learning.
Prof. Kwiatkowska will share her passion and expertise in user-centred universal design and adopting technical systems to ensure inclusive practices and equal opportunities for all. In the workshop, you will:
- Explore the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) as a framework for high-quality, inclusive education
- Understand how inclusion can be embedded from the start, rather than added as an adjustment
- Learn practical strategies to design accessible curricula, teaching materials and digital environments
- Engage with real-world examples from inclusive research and co-production with people with disabilities
- Reflect on your own practice and identify opportunities to enhance inclusion within your institution
- Consider how technology can support participation, voice, and personalised learning experiences
The session will be interactive, reflective, and practice-focused, offering both inspiration and concrete tools to support meaningful change in higher education.
