UCLH Paediatric Diabetes Schools Study Day
We are pleased to invite you to our Schools Study Day, on 24th March 2025. This will be an opportunity to learn more about the management of Type 1 Diabetes during an in-person event led by staff from the Child and Young People's Diabetes service at UCLH.
The morning event will focus on offering information on managing Type 1 Diabetes in a school setting, with a focus on new technology that young people are using with increased frequency - such as Hybrid Closed Loop Pumps. There will be interactive elements to the day, with the aim of increasing the confidence of school staff in using Diabetes technology.
The afternoon event will focus on managing Diabetes for Children and Young people who will be attending a residential school trip and need support with their Diabetes outside of their usual school environment.
Staff are welcome to attend the whole day or just the morning or afternoon session dependent on what best suits their needs and the needs of the pupil they are supporting. Please note that the afternoon session will be a more advanced session for those who have either:
- Attended the morning session
- Have previously attended one of our schools study days
- Have otherwise received teaching from our team on managing Diabetes
If you have no prior teaching from our service and are looking to support a young person on a residential trip it is important that you also attend our morning session.
Timings
As mentioned above, we will be splitting the day into two parts:
Diabetes Management in the School Setting - 09:00 - 14:00
Diabetes Management on Residential School Trips - 14:00 - 17:00
Attendees
A maximum of two members of staff from each school are welcome to attend. We have invited all schools who have a young person under the Child and Young Person's Diabetes Team at UCLH. We recommend that the staff who are most likely to be supporting this young person with their day-to-day Diabetes management are the staff members to attend the day where possible.
*Please note, if you have more than one pupil at your school who is receiving care from the Child and Young Person's Diabetes Team at UCLH then two members of staff per pupil are welcome to attend.
Venue
The event will take place at The Education Centre at 250 Euston Road.

This event is free to attend.
