About this Event
Join us for a special evening of live Turkish folk music, culture, poetry, rhythm, and community in Hastings.
This concert will feature Deniz Akdoğan together with students from the Saz Learning Ensemble, performing traditional Turkish and Kurdish folk songs from different regions of Anatolia.
The evening will include:
- Live bağlama (saz) performances
- Bendir percussion and Clarinet
- Turkish folk song stories and cultural narration
- Traditional poems
- Semah performance (traditional Anatolian spiritual folk dance)
- Guest musicians and surprise performances
The concert will open with performances by Deniz’s students including:
Kerim, Abbas, Murat, Oğuz, Adrian, Deniz, and additional participants pending confirmation.
Carl will play Bendir percussion and Ahmet will play Clarinet
Guest musician names will be added to the programme once confirmed.
This will be our biggest venue so far, and we are excited to welcome a larger audience for an intimate and culturally rich evening of music and togetherness.

Drinks will be available to purchase from the venue bar.
We will also bring a limited amount of traditional Turkish Rakı for guests who would like to experience a classic Turkish alcoholic drink.

Registration Information
Although entry is free, this is a much larger venue than our previous concert, and we kindly ask everybody to register in advance so we can estimate attendance and seating capacity.
