Welcome to the Tufting Internship!Join us for a hands-on immersive experience at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre on Sunday November 3rd, 10th & 24th. This 3-part series is perfect for anyone interested in the art of tufting. Progress your skills from beginner to advanced as you work alongside renowned Dené Artisan Maria Rose Sikyea of Caribou Woman Creations!
Proudly take home three unique tufted creations, perfect for Christmas gifting, along with your own hand-colored caribou hair bundles. Leave this internship equipped with the knowledge, skills and tools to continue tufting!
�Session 1 (November 3): Circular tufting – Craft studded earrings while mastering knot work techniques and discovering how to color caribou & moose hair.
�Session 2 (November 10): Floral tufting – Design a beautiful scissor case and explore the difference between moose and caribou hair. Plus, an introduction to the artistry of micro-tufting!
�Session 3 (November 24): Micro tufted ring – Create an intricate micro-tufted flower on a sterling silver bezel ring. This advanced session will refine precision skills for tiny, detailed designs. We’ll conclude with a celebratory Indian Bingo event!
Each session includes a healthy catered lunch and snacks.
Maria is a Dené Artisan from the N.W.T, who is passionate about her heritage and a traditional way of life. Maria is an exceptional 3rd generation 'traditional tufter' who is excited to share her knowledge with you!
