Barocco Foundation is thrilled to invite you to a delightful concert in collaboration with Din l-Art Ħelwa, featuring promising soprano Michaela Agius accompanied by talented pianist Elaine Mercieca. The concert will open with Gabriel Fauré’s “Nell” Op.18 No.1, a romantic and evocative piece. Following this, enjoy selections from Francis Poulenc’s “Air Chantés” FP 46, a delightful set of songs full of wit and charm.
The programme will also feaure, “Villanelle” from Les Nuits d’été” Op.7 No.1 by Hector Berlioz, a piece renowned for its lush melodies and evocative poetry. This captivating programme continues with “Soleil, fuis des ces lieux” from J.P. Rameau’s opera “Platée”, offering a taste of the Baroque era’s elegance. This will be followed by a piano interlude by the talented Elaine.
This performance will conclude with the moving “All mein Gedanken” Op.21 No.1 by R. Strauss, followed by the heartfelt “An die Musik” D547 by F. Schubert, a piece that celebrates the power of music and C.M von Weber’s lively and spirited rendition “Kommt ein schlanker Bursch gegangen” from his opera “Der Freischütz”.
Organised by the Barocco Foundation, these popular lunchtime concerts bring recognition to established and emerging talent and offer a variety of repertoires. Do join us and enjoy the special acoustics of the church under its magnificent Alessio Erardi painted ceiling.
