Creatives are invited to take part in a 7‑week acrylic painting workshop held in the Esther Halliday Studio at Tamworth Regional Gallery. Led by Gunnedah‑based artist Fonda Shae, this welcoming program introduces participants to landscape and portrait painting using acrylics. Suitable for beginners through to emerging painters, the workshop focuses on building technical skills while encouraging observation, creative confidence, and personal expression.
Across the course, participants will explore acrylic materials and techniques, colour theory, composition, and mark‑making. Sessions progress from environmental subjects to the human figure and face, combining demonstrations, guided practice, individual feedback, and group discussion. Participants will complete multiple studies and at least one resolved artwork by the end of the program.
Workshop Highlights:
- Introduction to acrylic tools, materials, and layering techniques
- Landscape painting fundamentals: light, depth, atmosphere, and perspective
- Portrait fundamentals: facial proportions, skin tones, and expression
- Composition and colour mixing for mood and narrative
- Study works in Tamworth Regional Gallery Collection - including Norman Lindsay.
- Supportive peer discussion and creative feedback
- All materials provided
