About this Event
Writing queer identities in Northern Ireland; an intersection of difference and cultural conflict.
A workshop for LGBTQ+ writers aged 16-21.
Stephen Daly (queer young adult author) will deliver a talk on the experience of writing a queer book, set in Belfast and impacted by the legacy of the Troubles and how the intersection of his identities impacted his subjectivity and creativity while writing The Last Death Poet.
The talk will be followed by a creative writing workshop for LGBTQ+ young adults on using narrative non-fiction to learn about themselves and bring their individual experience of place and personhood to the page to create stories both real and imagined. The session will end with a sharing of work and signposting to queer writing opportunities in Belfast.
