We'll dive into the influences and legacy of the controversial late 60's Tropicalia movement with music by Gal Costa, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Tom Zé, Jorge Ben and more...One day in the mid-sixties, samba and jazz came together and had an unruly, psychadelic love child. These experimental yet infectiously danceable tunes blend the very best of the popular and the avant garde, and of African, Brazilian, and western music. This refusal to be bound by genre reflects the movement's celebration of diversity.
