Artist Bio

Formed in 2024, Trio Musae consists of young musicians from the Royal College of Music in London. Currently in their first undergraduate year, the group has already held a variety of performances in venues such as St John’s Church (Fulham), and St George’s Church (Hannover Square), and participated in masterclasses with acclaimed artists such as violinist Darragh Morgan and pianist Simon Callaghan. In November 2024, they debuted at St. James Piccadilly, performing Beethoven’s Piano Trio in C-Minor. The trio also put on a Women’s Day Concert in March earlier this year, playing Fanny Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio. Along with standard works in the trio repertoire, Trio Musae is also passionate about exploring works by underplayed and underrepresented composers.

Trio Musae is a member of the Piano Trio Society, and is generously supported by Talent Unlimited.
Pianist Rebekah Tan (18), a graduate from Chetham’s School of Music, is an avid performer, both as a soloist and collaborative pianist. Concert highlights include venues such as St. Martin-in-the-Fields (London), Sidney Sussex College (Cambridge), the Bridgewater Hall, and Legnica Art Centre, as well as solo recitals at The Bridge (Shanghai), Chester Methodist Church, Manchester Cathedral, and Bury Parish Church. Her wide competition experience has won her many prizes and public performances, such as a performance of Prokofiev’s 3rd Piano Concerto in Feb 2022, under the baton of Jonathan Bloxham with the Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra. Rebekah has had the pleasure to be taught by Zijie Wu, Marta Karbownicka, Helen Krizos, and now studies with Dmitri Alexeev at the RCM.

Violinist Kenza Stamselberg (19) is a keen musician who, after having attended both Junior Guildhall and the Yehudi Menuhin school, now studies at the RCM under Radu Blidar. Past teachers include Boris Kucharsky and Ning Kam, as well as masterclasses with Tobias Feldmann, Nicola Benedetti, Peter Herresthal, Violeta Smailovic-Huart, Paul Coker and Barbara Doll. Collaborations with renowned artists have led a variety of performances in the UK. Other concerts include among other venues Kings Place, the Menuhin Hall, the Razumovsky Academy, the Banstead Arts Festival, Milton Court and the Petworth Festival. Kenza plays a 1928 Leandro Bisiach violin kindly loaned to her by the Beares International Violin Society.
Cellist Louis Hirst (19) is an enthusiastic player who has won various prizes in competitions in both solo and chamber categories. He studied at the Zurich Conservatory with Rebecca Firth for three years, before beginning his undergraduate studies at the RCM under Melissa Phelps. Besides his engagement as a soloist and in chamber groups, Louis enjoys an orchestral setting equally. During his time in Zurich he had the pleasure to be the principal cellist of the Zurich Youth Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Chamber Orchestra of the Zurich Conservatory. He has performed in venues such as the Tonhalle Zurich, Musikverein Wien, Daegu Concert House, Lotte Concert Hall, Centro Cultural Miguel Delibes, Konzertkirche Neubrandenburg and many more. He has attended masterclasses with artists like Raphael Wallfisch, Thomas Grossenbacher, Michael Sanderling, Paul Handschke and Francis Gouton.
