Tree Tour: Kirkwood, a Commitment to a Healthy Community

Discover notable historical and horticultural stories of Kirkwood and explore an urban forest preserve right here in Atlanta. Kirkwood is a historic neighborhood on the east side of Atlanta, Georgia that has seen many changes and challenges over the years. This thriving community is home to various community members and organizations that promote and improve the quality of life for its residents. Trees Atlanta has played an active role in planting and caring for Kirkwood’s trees over the years, and you will see evidence of this work during the tour. Learn how you can get involved in planting and pruning trees as well as removing invasive species in greenspaces across Atlanta. Our docent has volunteered with Trees Atlanta in the Kirkwood neighborhood to help increase and improve the urban canopy.
About the Tour Guide: Lenette has lived in Atlanta off and on since 2001. The first thing she noticed when she arrived, was the amazing tree canopy. She moved to Kirkwood in 2021 and enjoys exploring the neighborhood with her two dogs. Lenette has been a dedicated Trees Atlanta volunteer since 2023 and has volunteered on several projects in Kirkwood. The forest is her happy place.
