Tree Festival Welcomes Springtime with a Day of Nature, Music and Activities
On Sunday 9th March, Belmont Demesne will burst into life as the Tree Festival invites families and nature lovers to celebrate the arrival of spring with a joyful day packed with activities, entertainment and community spirit.
This vibrant festival will feature an exciting range of activities, including a Birds of Prey show, archery lessons, a wildlife trail, pottery demonstrations, puppet-making, storytelling, dancing, and much more. Visitors can also enjoy a craft market, take part in a raffle, and soak up the festive atmosphere with live performances throughout the day.
As part of the event’s commitment to nature and sustainability, 3,000 native bare-root trees will be available for free to the public on the day. These will be a mixture of oak, alder, beech, birch, silver birch, and a small amount of sweet chestnut and hazel trees. This is an effort to support local biodiversity, rewilding and tree planting efforts. You can order your trees in advance by emailing [email protected] and pick them up on the day. Experts from Green Friends and Rewild Wicklow will be on hand to advise on soil suitability and tree species and they will even help out with the planting if you wish. The trees are 2 to 3 year old saplings so will fit no problem in the boot of a car.
Located at Belmont Demesne in Greystones, the festival is FREE to attend, with a €3 charge for parking. Food options on the day include The Café at Belmont, SOL Servants of Love, The Crepe Box and The Divine Foodie or feel free to bring along a picnic.
This growing festival is in its fifth year, with over 1.5k people in attendance in 2024. 80Max, a local group committed to climate action and reducing emissions, pioneered this event in collaboration with Belmont Demesne, and this year will also be supported by Bray & North Wicklow Area Partnership (BNWAP).
