About this Event
From February 18 - March 20, art and nature enthusiasts are encouraged to visit Big Haynes Nature center (BHCNC), a 173-acre greenspace located at the Georgia International Horse Park (GIHP), to take part of a treasure-hunting activity called, “Treasures in the Trees.”
We will kick off the event at the City of Conyer’s Arbor Day celebration at BHCNC on February 18th! Several decorative blossoms will be hidden on trees, bushes and other structures along the trails. Staff at the GIHP will continue this effort at the start of each week leading up to the Conyers Cherry Blossom Festival, which takes place on Saturday and Sunday, March 21 & 22. You never know where you may find one, tucked in a tree cavity, at a boardwalk, or in one of various crevices within the trail system. This is the perfect family activity to get people out to enjoy nature, celebrate the beauty around us, and get the community excited about one of the biggest arts and crafts festivals around. As a bonus, we'll be hiding some around Olde Town Conyers too!
Have a group of friends? Or a school group? Break everyone into teams and make it a fun competition! Do you hike on the trails frequently? If so, make it a 3-week challenge as you try your luck! A fun adventure for all any way you play!
Directions: Bring your decorative blossoms to the Georgia Intnernational Horse Park admin office to get a free Conyers Cherry Blossom parking pass! The GIHP office is located directly across the street from the nature center (across from Gate D.) Go to the festival on March 21 or 22, and exchange the blossom for a unique, handmade keepsake made by one of the festival's featured artists!
(Note: Our office is open Mon - Fri from 8am-5pm , and closed on weekends.)
This is a FREE family-friendly event. All ages welcome!
No check-in required. Just come and play!
