“A sublime combination of rock and bluegrass, contemporary and classic, old and young. The best set of the festival.” — Rolling StoneGrammy Award–winning Travelin’ McCoury returns to Arts Bonita, bringing a progressive, modern bluegrass sound that has reshaped the genre while staying grounded in its traditions. Brothers Ronnie McCoury (mandolin) and Rob McCoury (banjo), sons of bluegrass icon Del McCoury, extend a lineage of bluegrass royalty with music that blends traditional acoustic power with the influence of rock, country, and jam bands such as the Grateful Dead, Tom Petty, and Led Zeppelin—all delivered with uncompromising musicianship and drive.
That fearless approach has made Travelin’ McCoury one of the most respected crossover bands in roots music. Their collaborations and shared stages with The Allman Brothers Band, Phish, Keller Williams, String Cheese Incident, and Dierks Bentley reflect a rare ability to connect genres and audiences. Boundary-pushing projects like the Grateful Ball, which reinterprets the music of the Grateful Dead through bluegrass instrumentation, underscore the band’s role as both torchbearers and innovators.
This return to Arts Bonita features a band in peak form—technically fierce, creatively expansive, and firmly rooted in the source that continues to drive bluegrass forward.
