Backtrack Blues Band is one of America’s longest-running and most accomplished blues groups, performing original, high-energy blues since 1980. The six-piece ensemble—featuring harmonica, guitar, B3 organ, vocals, and a driving rhythm section—includes a Grammy Award–winning musician, two Blues Music Award winners, and a Keeping the Blues Alive Award honoree. The band has earned three Tampa Bay Music Awards for Best Blues Band, has appeared at major festivals worldwide, and has shared stages with B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker, and Robert Cray. Their seven albums of original music have charted in the Top 10 on Living Blues and Roots Music radio charts, their 2018 release was nominated by DownBeat Magazine as one of the year’s best blues albums, and Way Back Home was recognized by Lonesome Highway as one of the 50 best blues albums of 2016.
Their sound is defined by Sonny Charles’ gritty, amplified harmonica and soulful vocals, paired with Kid Royal’s searing Texas-style guitar work and a tight Chicago-influenced rhythm section.
