Trip Details
Join us on an insightful walking tour of York, highlighting untold histories and diverse stories of the city, hearing about the impact of women, people of colour, and LGBTQIA+ individuals from York's past. This tour was written and researched by academic historians from the University of Oxford and is delivered by trained researchers from the University of York. It asks questions that provoke new ways of seeing the city landscape and its history, encouraging attendees to see York as more than a small English city, and instead as a vibrant international urban centre. Come curious, leave informed!
Perched on top of the castle mound raised by William the Conqueror; our next visit - Clifford's Tower, built during the 1250s as the keep of York Castle, one of the greatest fortresses in medieval England. Today, a new roof deck gives unrivalled views over York's historic skyline, with its medieval buildings and famous Minster.
Don’t Miss:
Take in the spectacular views over York from the brand new roof deck
Hear stories and sounds from the tower’s fascinating past
Get up close to rooms and features not seen for centuries
Following the tower visit enjoy group Afternoon Tea refreshments with a Japanese inspired twist, and elegant surroundings make it anything but ordinary.
