About this Event
Trauma-informed yoga creates a safe space for all. It places a focus on the internal processes that are happening within you during your practice. This includes the sensations, feelings and thoughts that are occurring throughout and helping you to create a felt sense of safety within the body that allows you to feel what arises.
Many of us have experienced a traumatic event at least once in our lives. This can have a big impact on how safe, accepted and empowered we feel. Trauma-informed yoga places special consideration on making you feel comfortable, respected and welcome.
The general structure of a class will include asana (yoga poses), breathwork and meditation.
In the class, you will have total autonomy and choice over what poses you do, the parts of the class you want to take part in and the pace that you go. There are no expectations. We will let you know what to expect from the session at the beginning of class so you are fully informed and will provide general guidelines so that it can remain a safe space for all.
These classes are geared more towards stress and tension release, emotional regulation and embodiment. If you are looking for a more active type of yoga that is focused on fitness, this may not be the class for you.
